In this video I demonstrate how it is possible to generate usefull electricity with an old exercise bike. In addition the video deals with a buck boost converter and the inverter from an old ups as usefull methods to stabilize the generated voltages and charge batteries with it.

I really loved some of the videos where you show circuits being built up on the vero board - like the RFID detector. It'd be great to see the buck-boost circuit you built from the app note for example. I realise videos of these are tricky and take lots of time to do..

I would like to cast my vote for a buck-boost inverter video.

Hi, I am interested in how to put together the buck boost converter, please make a video . Thanks

Very interesting! You have given a good, clear explanation of how and why this type of system works. Thank you! I will be looking forward to more of your productions in the future.

Great video. Thank you for doing what you do. Could you explain the mechanical side of the system? The gears wheels belts and weighted fly-wheel, how were these items put together. Where did the generator come from and what is its specification? Was it salvaged from something else ? How much of the mechanical system was part of the original exercise bike?

Your reply is much appreciated.

super duper fantastic...!!!
could you please describe how to design a fly wheel and timing belt arrangement....basically how to calculate the ratio and speed and speed ration between the paddle rotation to generator shaft rotation.?
wanted to understand that design.

Can you give the explanation about control circuit of buck, boost convertor...

Hello TPAI, I am a very young hobbyist that is fairly new to electronics and hasn't had any traditional teaching. I want to attempt a buck-boost converter but the one in the design manual is meant for a negative to positive regulator design (there is also - to +). I was wondering if you then invert your input to a negative voltage(of course adding another regulator would cause you to loose efficiency), hook up ground to the Vin rail and vice versa or are you using an entirely different topology altogether? And if it's not the latter then what happens to your calculations? Do they stay the same? Any help regarding my comment above would be appreciated a lot because I am new and don't really know where to find information. Thanks for the great electronics videos, keep it up!

Hello
I really enjoy your videos
the electronics are above me
the mechanical videos are well understood by me, ...
;please note: there is no need to ever say   so called in the context of your videos
this phrase is only used when an item is commonly called by a name OTHER than it's own.   no offense intended, ...just thought a person who who appreciates accuracy would want to know this

Hi, Its a wonderful Video. But few questions comes to my mind.
-> Are you using the same circuit as described in LT1070 application data? because
   - I could see an IC in the veroboard  input side.
   - Two components are mounted to the heatsink.

Your reply is much appreciated. Thanks.

please could you male a buck boost converter out of other ic's ? like TL494 or sg2524 or uc3842 or 34063 ?

Can you explain how to apply Faraday's Law to coils for an axial flux generator?
Most physics discuss coils as if completely immersed in a magnetic field, but in Axial Flux designs the magnetic flux does not totally envelope the coil. The coil may have an area of 5 or 6 square inches while the magnet may have an area of 2 or 3 square inches. The Axial Flux design utilizes a dual rotor with opposing magnet polarities and a stator with coils.

There are 3 videos I've watched to understand the math:
Measuring Magnetic Flux Density
Magnetic Flux and Magnetic Flux Density
7.1.3 Motional EMF

From these videos I get the idea it is a combination of the magnetic flux density, magnetic flux area, the length of conductor perpendicular to the magnetic force, and the number of turns.

what would happen if you plug the set-up to the house socket instead of the 60w bulb?  Will the electricity meter go backward?
