The Road Less Traveled to Camp Santanoni, NY

Camp Santanoni, in the Santanoni Preserve in Newcomb, New York, is a remote adventure destination where you might be the only ones there. Theodore Roosevelt was once a regular overnight guest, but these days the buildings are only open for tours, not sleepovers.

The camp is accessed via bike, hike, or horse-drawn wagon and can be visited all year long. Go for the excellent canoeing and swimming, and if you're called to stay for longer, there are a few secluded campsites along the lake.
