Fun fact : under Napoleon the french army had a bright red and blue uniform. They kept it for a while but as war tactics evolved (I think it was the ww1 trench wars) French soldiers would be super visible and get killed a lot. So they had to change it

I knew it was France on the first one. A commander realised that the legionaries who were tardy about uniform cleanliness tended to live longer, so he made his soldier smear mud on their uniforms creating the first camouflage
