Though the Beatles' recording on "Revolver" was decidedly dissonant, the bell tower renders it as a pleasant melody, easy to listen to.

you're right about the original record dissonance: even though VofV (B in the key of A) finally resolves to V (E) that dissonance is kept unresolved for a second for that pungent vocal effect. As for the half-diminished chords in the chorus even though their made up off the same notes than the one in natural position for the key of A (diminished with its root in G#) in this case it's used it's inversion with the root in B so as to play with the use of B (VofV in the key of A) and Bm (ii in the key of A) so it's slightly dissonant in that sense too
