The Face of Diabetes - Michelle

Diabetes Queensland Chief Executive Officer Michelle Trute knows all too well the signs of diabetes -- she has family members with both type 1 and type 2 in the family.

Actively championing the cause for people with diabetes in her career and herself experiencing gestational diabetes, it is easy to see why she has a passion for
making a difference in the lives of people with diabetes.

Diabetes Queensland has undergone rapid growth across many areas of the business under Michelle's leadership.

Her work has also been recognised by her peers when she was awarded the 'Not for Profit Manager of the Year' for the Management Excellence Awards by the Australian Institute of Management.

Michelle was also invited to attend Harvard University, where she was identified as a key person in the highly competitive "Performance Measurement for Highly Effective not for profits" category. At this presentation she had the chance to showcase the work of Diabetes Queensland and its work towards improving the lives of people living with diabetes.
