2 TBS Oats (finely ground)
1.5 TBS Sea Salt
10.35 oz goat milk or cow's milk or water
Arabian musk ( linked above) is very close to the fragrance in the Dr. Squatch soap. If you don't like to use fragrance oils, you can mix white pine, cedarwood and eucalyptus essential oils for a pleasant fragrance as well.
I typically use lard for my soap recipes, however, I have had people complain or ask why. My reason for using lard is that it is readily available to me. We raise hogs, and always render the lard. We have an abundance of it, and I like to use as much of the animal as I can.
For this recipe, I used Palm oil just to make it friendly for all, well probably not all. (Some people don't like palm oil either, I believe this one was sustainably sourced). However, you can switch the palm oil out for lard, you will just need to decrease the ly to 4.59 oz and keep the liquid at around 10.35 oz. Not much difference at all! However, I hesitate to say just switch them out. You should never just switch out ingredients without running your recipe through a lye calculator.
Oatmeal in soap can reduce skin irritation and itching. Likely because it is a natural exfoliator. It soothes the skin and is a natural cleanser as well. Oatmeal absorbs excess sebum from the skin which helps if you have breakouts. Oatmeal soap can also help to moisturize the skin without clogging pores.

I use lard or tallow in my soaps. Makes for a beautiful soap bar. I don’t pander to the masses. I just create clean well made soaps. People can choose to buy or not.

Definitely going to be making this soap. I have this fragrance oil and I compared it to Dr Squatch (on the shelf) and they do smell just alike. I love goats milk soap and dupes all around are just so much fun. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your recipe, it looks good. I will be using lard instead of palm oil, so I need to change the lye to 4.59 oz and water to 10.35 oz?

I think people forget that baby goats (kids) become adult goats that eat ANYTHING 😜 They are a challenge and quite frankly stink to high heaven. Honestly, I don't feel too much difference between soap I just add sugar to and what I add any kind of milk to.

I’ve heard we can speed up the curing process by placing in the oven on lowest temperature overnight. Have u heard this before?

I never knew soap "cured". What happens during curing?

I was taught to add salt (& sometimes sugar) to water, stir until dissolved, then freeze. After completely frozen, add NaOH gradually. I didn't know salt can be added to frozen milk, then NaOH is added.

Why would you want to copycat that recipe? Squatch isn't bad, but it is inferior to my recipe. Be original instead.
