Google Docs: Voice Typing

We'll show you how to use Google Docs to transcribe your voice. All you need to do is enable the feature, and then you'll be able to simply talk, and Google Docs will convert it to text.

While the speech recognition isn't perfect, it is possible to correct errors. You can right-click underlined words to select a suggested change, and you can even use voice commands to make changes. In the video, we'll go over some basic voice commands you can use.

Thanks for making the video. One major flaw with Google speech-to-text is after you say "period" or "full stop" it doesn't automatically capitalize the first word of the next sentence. This is very frustrating. I tried using the "Capitalize" command. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. Any thoughts?

Early on you said you could use this to "transcribe meetings or audio recordings." You never touched on those topics again, so I don't know what you had in mind there. Would you please expand on this? The only idea I've seen to have Google Docs transcribe a recording is to have your microphone pick up the text from the air, like your ears would, while you play the recording nearby. And for a meeting, wouldn't you need multiple mics or one very sensitive mic? Thanks for the brief intro.

Any idea why the voice typing keeps pausing after ±5 minutes? Is it meant to perform like that? I need to transcribe 1½ hour lecture, but it keeps pausing every few minutes.
