What tank was ACTUALLY used in Fury?

Many people have been confused about this (myself included
) so I wanted to explain why you sometimes hear two different answers about which type of tank is seen in the movie Fury.

The A2 is the diesel engine variant. Although the US Army used diesels in the M10 tank destroyers, all the tanks were standardized petrol.

Correct name is M4A3 (76) W HVSS. The M4A3E8 was only the few that were modified with the HVSS for testing. Once it was standardized, they got a new name.

Personally, when watching war films, I expect authenticity over historical accuracy.

And I think this is one of those cases where the feel of the tank in question makes the story feel authentic enough, even if it technically isn't the tank that the movie is depicting. :3

The M4A2 Sherman was also used by the marine corps, just not the 76 as far as I know.

The tiger used in the movie is the tiger 131, a real one that was used in the north Africa campaign

So, it's an M4A2.5E8 Sherman tank. the .5 is for both.

It’s simply the Tank “Fury” In the 2018 movie “fury” is an M4A2E8 Sherman medium tank, or an Easy 8 by the Germans and was used for being effective against Panzer V panther Tanks and panzer VI Tiger 1H heavy Tanks like the actual Tiger I “131” in the movie was an actual heavy tank first used in the African campaign against the British.
