Christopher Plummer was clearly going through something at that time (ego, addiction, etc?) and later, as he matured, admitted that the issues were his and no one else's. As this clip stated, he praised Julie, decried his behavior, and he and Julie were great friends. He acted like an a$$, matured, changed, and apologized.

So, the takeaway here is that Christopher Plummer was the one that was hard to work with, not Julie Andrews. Nevertheless, RIP Chris. You were great in this movie and so many others.

I loved this musical- still do. Christopher Plummer was very good looking, and I’m sorry he was so unhappy about the project. I wonder if he was surprised that it has become such an American classic. Also adore Julie Andrews and have long been a fan of her work.
This movie made me was to visit Salzburg and see the area for myself. The 40th anniversary dvd has some amazing extra footage that I recommend seeing if you get a chance. ❤

In 1990 I went to Europe with my girlfriend. We went on the Sound of Music tour when we were in Austria. Everything filmed indoors was filmed in Hollywood, everything filmed outdoors was in Austria. Thanks.

Maybe Plummer was jealous she was the movie's star and didn't want to admit it.
She'd already won an Oscar for best actress by the time Sound of Music started shooting
