Most people compare the new iPhone with the previous version BUT I suspect that most iPhone users tend to skip versions now, so it would be more realistic to compare the 16 with 14 or 13 (I still own a 12 Pro Max)

Yeah, not wowed by the 16 line. I’ll stick to the 15 pro max with gear I’ve purchased.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and am happy enough but was planning to upgrade to a 16 Pro Max - notably hoping to see advancements in things like cinematic mode. I don't think there's anything inherent wrong with the 14 pro other than the standard things in the iPhone cycle like battery life deminishing

Nice first review, looking forward to your full review.

Can I suggest not to hold things too close to your camera as its just blurred.

Thanks

The question for me is from the 14 Pro. I don't have log. I'm guessing transfer from USB-C might be faster than lightning making Pro Res log usable for acquisition. 4k 120 is nice but I wonder how often I'd use it.

What I'd really like to see is 10 bit 422 Log with HEVC which could be much more space efficient than ProRes which may be overkill for social media work.

It's true that there isn't much difference compared to the iPhone 15, but I think it's worth waiting for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and switching. Just for the 4K at 120 frames per second, it's worth it—plus, let's not forget that all of this is in HDR, and the video quality we know from Apple is top-notch.

The differences may be minimal, but they're worth it.

Man, was really hoping to upgrade this year if they brought in new features & upgraded old ones but this just sounds pretty mid to me. Time to invest in a camera & get a flip phone instead 🤣

Nobody has mentioned the transition across lenses. The 14PM there’s an obvious jump as it switches lenses. How does the 16 handle that?

So which one has the better camera, iPhone 15 pro or 16 base?

If you are serious about mobile filmmaking you are not going to rely on the built in mics. You are going to use real microphones like a Rode NTG, Deity or Rode Wireless Pro. The multiple mics is a nice touch borrowed from the multiple recording mics from the LG V40, V50 and V60 which I use as back up audio still but they are not in the same class as a real external mic.

For someone that has the 13 pro is it worth the upgrade to the 16

pro model?

I'll be switching from the 13 Pro. Can't wait to see your review :))

Your video looks and sounds great. Honestly, I just read the title of your channel, LOL. Do you have any data etc on your set up

The camera control seems to be ideally placed for vertical shooters but a pain in the **** for those who shoot landscape. But, given that the ‘volume control’ can currently be used by gimbals to start/stop shooting it would be amazing if all of the camera control features become available to the gimbal interface. That would make one ‘ellova of a movie makers rig.

Has it got rid of the green dot that shows on the lens when filming towards a bright light or sun?

I’m an apple fan, but apple events are getting more and more boring. It’s hard to find reasons to change the phone that I have. I use the iPhone to shoot video for my channel a lot; I want a bigger sensor with the ability of changing aperture. That’s it.

Well I will change from
iPhone 12 Pro so there’s a lot changes, but from 15 it’s not worth
