REDES IS THE NETWORK FOR THE EMERGENCE & DEVELOPMENT OF ECOVILLAGES IN THE SAHEL

REDES was established in 2015 in the West African country of Senegal, by Dr. Ousmane Aly Pame. The organization works in villages in Northern Senegal and across the border in Mauritania in a geographical area called the Sahel.

The Sahel exists in between the arid Saraha (desert) to the north and the belt of humid savannas to the south across the African continent.

Desertification, climate change, and persistent poverty threaten the people of that land and their traditional way of life.

REDES helps these traditional communities become ecovillages by blending deep-rooted culture with modern ecological and community-building methods.

Our posts over the next few weeks, including these 30 second videos, will share what REDES is doing to improve the lives of the people in the Western Sahel region of Africa.
