I think the problem here is that most of these soapies in South Africa are usually centered around one and the same characters/actors. The more popular you are, the more likely you are to get more screentime and then in turn, better pay. That's why I'll always vouch for Skeem Saam as one of the best in SA. This show doesn't try to give off a Hollywood feel to its story like all the others. There are no bosses and families living lavishly as opposed to others. The story goes in chapters that rotate among the characters. It started out with the Maputla-Kunutu saga, and then shifted overtime to be centered more around the Seakamela-Maphosa drama.. Leshole camr from nowhere and eventually became a recognisable pilot. Koloi also had a chapter. Now we're focussed on the Kgomo-Melita drama. You get the idea, , , everyone has a chance to bring out their best capabilities depending on where the story is focussed.

I guess that's just why most of these other actors will remain low-paid in other drama series.
