French players would call this “deliberate knock on”

Someone here saying its no different to a goal keeper. Completely different. All you have to think about in football is catching the ball or blocking. In rugby the balls different and much harder to control. His feet cannot be touching the floor when he makes contact. The ball can't just go anywhere, it has to land back in the field of play and it has to go backwards.

So the ball needs to touch the ground after leaving the line, i never knew that. That guy is a real hero

It's mental capacity that counts at times like this.

Did they change the law for this? Cause now I see guys jumping from outside and tapping the ball in

Cricketers do this all the time, even catching a small hard ball in one hand in midair and throwing it back infield.

How you ask? He jumped from in field and tapped it back before his body touched the ground outside the field of play, that's how 😂

I hope Australia improves and gets stronger again for the next World Cup. Sad to see how they are recently.

lets be honest if he would've never caught that, that kick would've been brilliant

Brilliant, but it's a complete lottery right now whether it would be allowed or not. AFAIC it USED to be well understood that there was no "plane of touch" and that the ball remained alive until "grounded" out-of-bounds; allowing plays like this. But more often than not nowadays the officials will rule that the ball has "crossed the line" (plane) and is therefore dead. I wish they'd make their minds up. I prefer the old way (plays like this allowed) but I'd rather a clear ruling against than this inconsistency. :-)

What a brilliant save. If rugby didn't work out he could do volleyball

He jumped and knocked the ball back before he made contact with anywhere off the pitch. That's how

To me it looked like he hit it back in play, that's how he did it. Hardly difficult.
