Today we are walking on a summer's afternoon in Chelmsford, Essex, UK! We walk from Chelmsford Train Station, through the high street, High Chelmer and The Meadows shopping centres where lots of shoppers are about in the street. Then we cross both rivers in Chelmsford - The River Can and The River Chelmer.

Chelmsford is a city in the City of Chelmsford district in the county of Essex, England. It is the county town of Essex and one of three cities in the county, along with Southend-on-Sea and Colchester. It is located 30 miles (50 kilometres) north-east of London at Charing Cross and 22 miles (35 kilometres) south-west of Colchester. The population of the urban area is around 120,000.

6.34, site of the old Corn Exchange. Brilliant Saturday night gigs. Pink Floyd, the Move, Georgie Fame, the Yardbirds . . .

At about 4.15, there used to be a shop selling a huge range of coffees, either beans, or ground, and a delicious smell of roasting coffee filled the street.

It is a bit plain, I think. They need to put more trees and grassy spots on the pavements, so the place doesn't look so bereft.

15.07. The building ahead was the Saracens Head Hotel, one of my favoured haunts. I've had drinks with Clapton and Beck in there. We were all spotty youths back then.

21.14 I forget the name of the shop that was there on the right, but it was the sole supplier for uniforms and related clothing for my old school.

15.11 There was a huge statue of Judge Tyndal (hence Tyndal Square) He was one of the many luminaries who attended my alma mater, King Edward V1 Grammar School. There is, however, no statue in my honour . . . yet.

Chelmsford is ok, nothing special. Most young people who live there want out. Half the shops in town are closing down every 6 months it seems. The crime rate now is very high compared to the past and there’s a lot of rough people who live there (mostly from Melbourne).

Few nice parks, good selection of pubs and restaurants. Missing proper clubs & a music venue and also missing a good football stadium for the size of the city. Traffic is awful.

Overall ok, but quite meh if you’ve lived there a long time.

Me and my dad used to go on Saturdays and watch the Ceefax scores coming through. Me and me best mate used to go to Monday market circa 97. My earliest memory is my uncle taking me and buying me a spectrum 48k game! This brings back a lot of memories thank you. I see they finally gave the old precient a bit of small face lift. It's definitely always kept clean unlike a lot of London
