I know Jimmy Wayne. His backstory is unbelievable. He spent most of his childhood in foster homes or living on the street. He worked for a time as a prison guard. A couple of years ago he walked across the country to draw attention to foster kids. He wrote a book about it called Walk To Beautiful. I've sat several times and heard him tell his story for 30-40 minutes at a time. He and his sister would have their names on Salvation Army Angel Trees at Christmas time. Truly inspiring. You should definitely hear his songs "I Love You This Much, " "Do You Believe Me Now, " "Stay Gone" and "Kerosene KId." Beyond powerful. Amazing guy.

I shared an elevator with Jimmy Wayne and didn’t know who he was until he came out and sang this song at a Children’s Mental Health/Child Abuse convention in Oklahoma City several years ago. His story broke my heart and made me appreciate him even more.

Jamel thank you for show casing Jimmy Wayne. I had not heard his voice until now, but I read his book Walk to Beautiful. Everyone should read it. It is honest and open about life as a underprivileged child of a drug addict in the South. It takes place not far from where I live and is all too familiar.
