Down With The Sickness - David Draiman Isolated Vocal Analysis - Disturbed - Singing & Production

This is a deep and challenging song to dig into. It's one of the more emotionally charged studio performances you can listen to and you get a really good front row seat with these isolated tracks. Let's unpack how David gets his signature Ohhh Wah Ah Ah Ah... His unique raspy grit/distortion and pull from some vocal production techniques to get a much better idea of how David Draiman and Disturbed get their vocal sounds!

I thought david's vocals were caused by genetics, but now I see he is incredibly talented.

I gotta be honest, I was getting a little tired of this song, but your analysis breathed a fresh new perspective into this song for me, particularly that "oh wa-a-a-a-ah" part at the start.

I've read somewhere that the "mom abusing the child" part is a metaphor and the "mom" is our society which is like a mother who's abusing her kids (us). Could be wrong but I wanted to point that out for you, still makes me sad everytime I hear this part, sounds so real.

David and the rest of the band just sound like one single Inseparable unit, very few bands can achieve that, and his command of his voice is unbelievable

This is an incredible analysis of David. It’s unreal how complex his voice is. David, Ben Burnley, Sully Erna, Adam Gontier, Pete Loeffler, Ivan Moody, all voices on a whole other level.

I think the way you talk about, doing analysis and show how it should sound with your own voice its pretty brilliant ! Keep up a good work ! :D

In a recent interview david said that he can't quite do what he did in the new albums (there is a comparison to the vocalist of the rolling stones but that's beside the poiny) i would love to see you make a reaction and analyses to the new material like 'The Vengful One' or 'Are You Ready' and try to explain the phenomenon of voice degradation over the years and how he deals with it vocals-wise

I love them all but this is one of my favorite Vocal Analysis' that you have done. I also feel you sound the most like this one. You have taught me so much over the last few months since I discovered your channel and lessons. I never though I could sing ... now I have hope. THANK

this idea of teaching us while you are still learning the technique is genius - it really makes a big difference in putting yourself down to our level. thanks chris!

Hey there Chris. I see you take isolated vocals for David draiman Disturbed. You have my respect for this. I have three favourite songs of it : Decadence, Sons of plunder and Deify. I hope that you will take isolated vocals for those songs. See ya.

Those opening vocalizations are so primeval. And the rhythmic scat of the vocal is spot on.

I'm watching this early in the morning! 😃🖐 David Draiman is my favourite singer of all time! I can't get enough of his voice! I've tried to emulate the singing with compression but it doesn't come easily for me. 😅

OOOHH AHHH AHHH AHHH AHHH...don't think it's supposed to tickle. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to do it right.

I’m SO “glad/happy” you left in the last, and maybe best part of the song!

Lmao when you were practicing the beginning scream, for a sec you sounded like Super Mario screaming 😂

One of my favorite things about your way of teaching is emphasizing how important it is to make ridiculous sounds in order to learn how to make sounds that sound good.
