I always felt that Kool and the gang is what inspired Eddie with that main guitar riff

Coming from a hardcore Van Halen fan: Best of Both Worlds (still one of my absolute favorites) would have indeed been Numero Uno on the charts had Sammy not smacked the Universe with a particular lyrical line in the middle breakdown of this song. This lyric was irreverent and unnecessary, and the very loyal legion of Faith-based followers of the band took notice and tuned out. A "Heaven on Earth" story line was all that was needed to appeal to everyone and take this song Over The Top to #1 (Belinda Carlisle actually got it right). The moral of this incredible underrated tune that could have ruled the world is: even in a secular world, you take cheap shots at the Universe, the Universe answers back. Simple Karma 🌌 R.I.P. Eddie. Your legacy transcends!! 🎸🎶❤️
