I had fun doing ths tut Ryan, and thank you very much for explaining geo nodes & helping me wrap my head around them. I've now done three geo node tuts by another person and your scattering / weight painting / sphere tuts. Even though both of you do a fantastic job of explaining what each node does etc. the whole geo node implementation into Blender just feels so unintuitive and messy. Guess I need to keep learning more to make better sense of it all.

Fantastic Tutorial! I was wondering if you could give some insight on how i could animate the emission so it changes between different colors during the animation? IE It changes from red>blue>white>red or just like a rainbow emission sort of deal?

You make great tuts, and geo nodes are awesomely powerful, but I don't see the point of using them when the geometry is static [other than as a learning exercise, I guess.] Like, I watched Erindale's stream where he did an entire scene with geo nodes [which is a tour-de-force of their capabilities], but I couldn't help thinking it could have all been modelled 'conventionally' a lot quicker. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I hoped your orb would be pulsating/shifting shapes/details, rather than just spinning and bobbing. From what you demonstrate, I imagine it would be a matter of animating some of the random scale values, yes?

Icosphere does not show up in the geometry node tab. I am using Blender 2.92.0
