The Pixel 2 XL seems really great, but it is the little extras like expandable storage, headphone jack, wireless charging, and S Pen beat out the portrait photos, squeeze, and others

I was watching this video with my note 8 (using headphones) and I swear my Note 8 laughed when you said the Pixel didn't have a headphone jack.

Note 8. better waterproofing. expandable storage. It looks better. wireless charging. HEADPHONE JACK.

Google is trying so hard to compete with Apple that they BECAME Apple...which sucks

Google saw Apple's business moves and tried to copy them. They saw that removing the headphone jack made everyone want their wireless AirPods, so they're trying the same thing with their Pixel Buds. They saw that people don't leave iPhone because of the Apple Ecosystem, so they're trying to create their own ecosystem, hence the home devices with Nest, the new Google Home array of speakers, the Pixelbook, the Pixel Buds, etc. The problem is that the Apple Ecosystem wasn't all dropped in one day. It was developed slowly over time. This strategy isn't gonna work.

The spen, for me easily worth the extra money, couldn't care less about the better camera, extra speed, the spen for me is the be all and end all

Just came off of the HTC party boat from as far back as the hero on Sprint years ago. I was able to borrow a 1st gen pixel and fell In love with it. Sadly had to return it once my HTC was replaced. But all HTC fan boy aside, I have been getting use to the Note 8 for about a week now. The camera is great and I am using the pen more than I had originally anticipated I would. Finger print scanner on the pixel 1st gen was extremely natural where as it's a bit of a reach on the Note 8 but when out of reach, the iris scanner does a great job of picking up where the finger print scanner falls short..
Or to far I should say. Headphone jack is a plus and the akg tuned ear buds are pretty good for coming in the box. Only time will tell. I do miss the audio quality on my HTC with the stereo speaker both front firing and one front one bottom firing. Perhaps a software update could enable the top earpiece to give a more immersive sound experience but hey that's just my opinion. So for now #squadnote8

Watching this on my note 8. Can't imagine a phone without a headphone jack. I just can't.

Reasons why I've already chosen the pixel 2 XL over note 8
*Stock Android (runs the best and looks the best
*Bigger battery
*It's cheaper
*Better camera
*Front firing speakers (take my money once I heard that)
*Fingerprint scanner isn't in a dumb place
*It's not all glass
*I don't care about wireless charging
*I have one pair of good wired headphones so I'll put the dongle on those and leave it there NBD
*I don't think people realize how handy that squeeze feature is going to be
* I prefer a little bit of bezel to grab onto
*Id never use the s-pen anyway *and I get a free Google home
*Side note just don't choose the iphone

Note 8 is just more versatile and looks like a power house comparing to pixel.
Pixel looks like a candy bar or more like a toy children play with.
I must agree that pixel's camera is rated highest in DXO Mark, but that is the only highlight i can see..
there is literally nothing else so interesting about that phone.
Anyways, if i had to choose between these two, i would go with the Note 8.

Note 8? Insane price tag, Bixby button, bloatware filled UI, slow updates, impractical full-glass design.
Pixel 2 XL? Smooth pure Android experience, quick updates, huge battery, awesome camera and powerful stereo speakers. For the missing headphones jack, there is an included adapter.
Sounds like an easy choice to me.

Only thing the Pixel has over the Note is the speakers and android updates. So no thanks. My Note8 chuckled at the absence of the Audio Jack xD

Note 8 anyday .. typing this with my Nexus 6. Those days were nice when pure Android experience was so affordable. Doesn't feel like shelling so much on a Google phone which doesn't evening have wireless charging, doesn't even look premium.

If the pixel was under $500 and came with Googles new earbuds and the Google home mini i would go with the pixel. But right now i have to go with the note 8.there's just no comparison.

I'm writing this from a Note8 so... I'm still waiting for other manufacturers to realize that there are many people out there that apreciates the S-Pen. It's not only for greating cute gifs or paper notes... really an awesome tool for drawing. Really convenient for a graphic designer or an artist in general.

Honestly, the Note 8 is definitely the more feature dense phone. I don't use expandable storage, have been fine with my 32 gig Pixel XL thanks to unlimited storage on the cloud, I use Google Play music, so don't need space for those things. I would have like to see another lense for more photography options on the XL 2, but I have been so happy with my Pixel camera that I don't think I can leave this phone line. I use mostly stock Google apps and watch a lot of videos, haven't used a wired headset for the last two years. Would have liked to see wireless charging on the XL, but not a biggie. I already ordered the XL2. I'm just blessed that I can afford to do so (thanks to Google's trade in program)
