You are correct that tires stored outside are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. I used to work for my county's Mosquito Control Commission and sprayed lots of tire dumps. Plus they're an eyesore. Your shredding is doing a lot of good so thank you.

You can increase your metal yield by lowering the magnet closer to the discharge conveyor and running the spoils a second pass....it is a learning curve for sure.

At our yard we take the rims off first, you're losing 100% of your aluminum and just from looking at your steel pile and all of the steel wheels you put in I'd say that you're losing 90% of your clean prepared steel. We separate the tires from the wheels by using either a mini excavator with a thumb or a big 320 excavator with a thumb, it peels the tires right off and can easily do close to 1, 000 per day. As strong as the cables are in the tires those rims are sucking a lot of power and slowing your shredding production down quite a bit.

So I've worked on these machines before on the engine side. From several different brands in fact. For that matter I'm pretty sure I've met the Rotochopper salesman that was out during start up of this machine a few times before. But in regards to the torque output of these machines. I was working on a Lindner brand machine once, with a CAT C-18, and I asked their service manager what the torque output was on their gear box. I was told that for the machine I was on, which is about twice the size of the 75 dk, it was somewhere around 350, 000 lb ft if I can recall. I also love your attitude of trying to think far ahead instead of being reactionary.

Great seeing your channel grow. I remember not to long ago you were sitting at your desk looking for the 10, 000 sub and here you are over double. Great things are happening for you and your crew!!! A lot of great content!!!

In the computer you can set where every 5 minutes or so it’ll run the rotors backwards for 30 seconds automatically.

Whenever you’re running material really stringy like the steel cords in tires it really helps to run the rotors backwards for a extended period every so often to unwrap the cords and free up material that is just robbing power and productivity.

You may want to shred tires on a rainy day. Just a little water will make the tires easier to eat. The rubber has less traction on the rotor blades. I used to work at a Goodyear store. We had to cut the junk tires. We would use a little water on the cutter blades to make it easier.

For years used tires have been a big 'PITA', these machines have solved that problem to a degree. Start-up looked simple, initially l thought you may have to employ a rocket scientist. As for the alloy rims you may need to set up a tire machine nearby and remove them to be recycled, but you already know that. Interesting video, keep up the good work.

I suggest setting the Alum rim tires aside, as the Alum is going for 65 cents a pound at my yard right now.

Ryan up here in Quebec we have a company that cuts off the side walls on the tires and sells them for weight to use on construction cones you know the ones on all are roadways, great video can't wait to see you put a mattress in there, see you soon 👍👍👍👍👍

Landfill i used to frequent a lot had us all dump in a transfer station on site on week days and shredded everything going up to the landfill first. I think they had a big non mobile shredder and a sort line first for recyclables. This was 15 years ago though on the other side of the country from you ... Lots of things you can do to extend the landfills life ..

I like the idea of shredding everything. Not only saving space but faster decomposition and longer landfill life is a big advantage. Great video and awesome machine.

i would try turning the conveyor down to better separate the metal. whole operation is costing at least $75 per hour, I'd have that hopper heaping! Thanks for the content :)

Hey Ryan! Just found your channel channel and subscribed. Nothing better than watching (and hearing) big diesel equipment tear stuff up. May I suggest you get a drone so you can film stuff from a safe distance and get camera angles you can't get otherwise.
