I've got a tip. TRIANGULATE.

Using a red bush to your west, a rock to your south and a trail to the north to find a treasure chest is a perfect example.

Best video on this I've seen so far. For how many hours I have, I can be shockingly terrible at map reading. Had to give up on a session because I spent 4x longer looking for an X to get a vault key than I'd anticipated. I was _so sure_ it was _right there_ . Most of the videos say the basics like pointing out landmarks and the compass direction on the map. This video and these comments have given me a better idea of how to find things on larger islands.
