After 5 years of not watching gravity falls... Im rewatching the series i looked this up and remembered all the lyrics

This is so great! The Gravity Falls theme alone, like some music I've heard, seems to have specific notes that seem to speak to the listener, in a way. Like the notes were just asking to have lyrics. For example, to get an idea of what I mean, if you take an already existing song, like say, Let It Go, and put the lyrics into instruments, it still sounds like it's meant to have words, and not be an instrumental. As the words to a song often have more expressed and prominent notes than their sibling backing track. That's why I always got the feeling the Gravity Falls theme should have had words to it, since it already feels like the notes are saying words, even though there's no words at all.


For example, after the song starts up, the first seven notes (The whistling part) feels like someone approaching you, and telling you something chilling but also intriguing. And there's even a pause in between, before the next eight notes, that gives you the sense of: "Uh huh? And what else?"

And then after those next eight notes, the person speaking to you then just starts going on a rant, listing all the things of the topic they're telling you about, each time escalating with each thing they list, until we reach the final seven notes of the theme song, which has a final note that always to me sounded like it was cut off, or incomplete. It ends on a high note, instead of a low one to finish off. It uses a crescendo to escalate the note and get you hooked in, leaning in as the story gets more interesting than it ever was before, before the person telling the story then leaves you with a cliff hanger.

(And then there's also iconic final part with the creepy notes, and the whispering, followed by the flash of Bill Cipher.)

In a way, this could be someone telling you about Gravity Falls itself, and how mysterious and creepy it is. Which is why the theme is so perfect. Because it hypes up everything you're going to get into, and the notes speak to you, even though they don't verbally speak at all.

That's the feeling I get when I hear the song. So I'm glad it was put into words.
