A bad-ass female guitar playing lead vocalist front person with more than a ton of attitude, she has been an empowering icon. She made the later Gibson Melody Maker (along with early Pat Travers) really popular even though she did occaissionly play a Les Paul. I wrote this before hearing your comments along the same lines.

Great video, Joan was 15 when she started the Runaways which is amazing. I have seen her live even when she had a cold and she still sounded amazing.

All you should have to say is Joan Jett and people should just know she is a foundational artist of 70's and 80's rock, and has been very influential to any musician. I have only had the pleasure of seeing her perform once, and it was the most amazing show! She was so cool, and just commands the stage. On top of that, it starting dumping rain during her set, Joan Jett kept going, no problems. A true rock goddess. #JoanJettRulez

Before going solo, Jett was the lead singer/guitarist when Runaways operated as four piece after the singer Currie and the original bassist left. Let's not forget Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. :)

After Joan Jett left the Runaways she couldn't get signed. So she formed her own label thank God! "I Love Rock 'N" Roll" is a cover of The Arrows version done in 1975.
