This rule's intention is to keep cubers from solving the cube after stopping the timer. Was the intention of the rule met in this case? No, he did solve it before stopping the timer, so what do we need to do? *UPDATE THE RULE!* It's that simple, but nobody seems to understand it.

Video evidence has been used in the past to show the cube is clearly solved before the competitor touched it (e.g. Sebastian 4x4 wr, Juliette 3x3 nr). I can understand why it’s dnf’d but I wouldn’t have penalised it. I’m just glad it’s not wr single being dnf’d

If we go to the root of that rule, it was put in place to stop people from aligning +2’s of fixing DNF’s, but in the video we can cleary see that the cube is solved and his intentions were not to eliminate a penalty but a simple force of habit of picking up a cube just after finishing a solve.

In my opinion, this solve has to be DNFed. We can’t just let faster cubers get away with the rules. If we do let this stand then I think the only reasonable thing to do would be to get rid of the rule in entirely

imo this is the result of the gan ssl competition that yiheng probably prepared for a lot - in that you’re allowed to turn it immediately after you finish! (nothing against that comp though, it was truly spectacular)

Not controversial. Just an unfortunate mistake that any top competitor might occasionally make, especially with the excitement and picking up the fallen chair. Also, his last comp was a month ago and not gan ssl (dunno why people are accidentally spreading misinformation).
