🎄 Most of the railway will stay open over Christmas and New Year but please check before travelling.

Over the festive period our teams will carry out essential engineering to give you and freight better journeys for the long term:

Please check your journeys with National Rail or your train operator:

I have been to London Paddington and it’s such a marvellous station. Nice to see Paddington Square now opened as a shortcut to the Bakerloo Line.

Missed the part of this video that explains why the frequency of the replacement bus services do not match the frequency of the trains.
We get that you need to do engineering work.
But why, for instance is there zero directional signage at Guildford when the line terminates there to show us where to go for the buses? Which is confusing for someone unfamiliar with the line or the station.
I've seen more than one person tripping over the poorly lit kerbs in the car park trying to get to a bus in time.
Why do you keep the barriers closed, even though all the trains are piling off their entire loads, causing dangerous overcrowding on the platform? (got some fun videos to share showing this)
Why does South Western Railway run buses on Motorway speed roads with no seat belts?
Why are the buses sent off before anyone would has a chance from the unloaded train to reach them (see barrier problems above)
Why does "the industry" charge full fare when the journey time is trebled?
Can you see how it looks like you're "working with your industry partners" to help them increase the profit margin to their shareholders during the shutdowns?
That's why we're fed up with engineering work - it's not because of the engineering work, which seems to be the premise of this video.
Thanks for palming us off with "check with your operator" because, you know, it's our job to fund their bonuses.

I do understand about engineering works and our railways always needs improvements. And lots of disruptions to rail services that causes lots of problems for commuters and tourists. And with more new trains coming into service.

Maybe Network Rail haven't noticed that more people use the railways on public holidays than workdays these days, so they should have changed their plans.
