As a resident of northern Nevada it's cold comfort that the north east USA can experience this. It's horrible. Hopefully we can come together and really improve fire fighting and fire prevention.

At least there will be a break from crime.

Symptoms of breathing wildfire smoke

Measured in microns, the particulates in wildfire smoke can reach the deepest recesses of lung tissues and set off inflammation.

Inhaling wildfire smoke can cause throat irritation, wheezing, sneezing, coughing, runny nose, congestion, chest discomfort, eye irritation, and shortness of breath—all triggered by the tiny particles in the smoke.
Be safe everyone!!!😊

We had it here in CO last week. It has that - 'stuff is burning that shouldn't be burning' smell to it. I mean its clear you should avoid breathing it.

I'm in Pike County PA and it's crazy outside. I didn't know what was going on and went outside to throw out the trash and was like wtf lol.

Same thing happened in 1922, except the smoke seems to have gone further east back then. It even reached London, England.

I live in California and this smoke reminds me of the 2003 Ceder Fire in San Diego. School was cancelled for a whole week and all outdoors activities were cancelled. Even the Halloween Festival was cancelled. I hope everyone in New York will take precautions and be safe.

When i was at school today, it was really foggy and any activities that was outside was canceled because of like smoke and too much fog, and also can cause breathing problems, and it was super yellow ish outside and even in Eatontown, Highyways, North bound and more locations that was foggy Stay Safe!

Put 6 mil plastic on the outside if your doors. Bring in a two way fan connected to a carbon filter. One side of fan run 6- 12 in ducting to outside. Won't smell sht. I did this here in California 2 yrs ago. Worked like a charm. These fans and filters are used mostly for Marijuana growing.

You should be here in central NY, it’s like being at a campground with all the campfires smoking up the place.

It’s bad here in Queens. I closed all windows. Which I rarely do.

This is bad. I’ve never experienced this. I’m right across the river from NYC and was planning on staying home all day yesterday until I remembered I had to go vote. Weird that I never got a weather alert on my iPhone or iPad about this. As I’m walking out the door I notice the sky and it looked as though it was about to rain. I’m still wearing masks when I’m out in public so I start wondering if the fire smell in the air was due to a local fire. I’m just waking up now, my bedroom has three large windows and the smell is seeping in. This just made me cancel my plans for today

For all you New Yorkers this is every year in the country, so stay in the city and quit moving to “the perfect quite mountain town” and raising our taxes because you’re not going to like it
