I got my Dreamcast on 9/9/99 with Sonic Adventure for its launch and got a free bright orange Dreamcast shirt with it that I proudly wore to school on a regular basis. It was the first pre-order I ever made. I can’t begin to describe the amazing memories that I have with that system in its early years, and I still enjoy going back to it every now and again. The Dreamcast was way ahead of its time and sadly didn’t get the recognition it deserved back in the day, but it’s good to see it get appreciated more nowadays.

It's a shame the Dreamcast was cut so short. I would have liked to have seen just how far it could have been pushed graphically if it managed to survive the entire generation. The difference between early PS2 and late PS2 games is massive.

If it weren't for this console I'd have never met my husband, we met over Phantasy Star Online. It's such a great console that in my opinion was too ahead of it's time in regards to it's online capability.

I was so upset when the dream ended. I was a teenager at the time and didn't understand how profit and loss worked. RIP Dreamcast you gave me two of the best years of my life.

Sega's failure to include DVD support was a huge hit to the perception of the Dreamcast in the West. So many kids in the West could make the strong case to buy a PS2 because it provided a DVD player for the household when they were so rare, and also make your kid happy at the same time.

I had never had more fun with a failed console than I did my sega dreamcast. It'll live on forever in my gaming memories. A true underdog of a console if there ever was one.

The Dreamcast will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first home console to truly deliver arcade quality graphics with almost perfect home ports. At the time I couldn't believe I had Model 3 quality graphics at home for only $199. Games like House of the Dead 2, Crazy Taxi, Sega Bass Fishing, Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Sonic Adventure, NBA 2K, Resident Evil Code Veronica to name a few blew my mind. Of course I later got a PS2, GameCube and Xbox but in the year 1999 and 2000 the Dreamcast kickstarted "next-gen" and gave me many hours of joy.

I remember how my father bought the Dreamcast. I was 6 at the time. My father told me it is the best console ever made and I could play it. I had so much fun with it. Then one day my father told me that Sega gave up. I remember how sad I was. These are my childhood Dreamcast memories. In 2009 I bought my own Dreamcast console. It was also the first console I bought with my own money. Now I love all consoles made by Sega

It was the best console of all time. I had mine one day after the launch, and I was sure the Dreamcast will be a huge success or even become the market leader, but it came totally different than I thought. So sad story.

Such a great console. It’s light didn’t burn for long but it burnt brightly.

14:46 - Given the success of the Saturn in Japan, I always did wonder if it would have been better to launch the DC in the US or PAL territories first and Japan later, though it seems the built up launch library did wonders for the US, so perhaps not.

A real shame about the Fall of the fantastic Dreamcast, particularly given few of the causes of it's demise were by decisions with the system. Interesting to learn of the connection it has to NEC though; that was completely new news to me.

Sega is like Oasis for that short time in the 90s they were the biggest thing ever. But only for that short time. The Saturn was SEGAs Be Here Now album.

My first game was Sonic Adventure and my last was Alone in the Dark. I still love my Dreamcast. I bought two eventually and have all colors of the VMU’s. I have mine hooked up through a computer monitor and it looks amazing. Will always remain my favorite Sega console.

I have still nightmares of the fall. As a child I owned one, with Shen Mue, Grandia, sky and some nice arcade games.. but the feeling that I have something Death was never cool. But it was mysterious .. hard to explain. With the Dreamcast I also raised and rised as a gamer, cauze a classic RPG like Grandia for 15-16 years old was not so easy. Even Shen Mue with bad English skills. But this games had magic..

The Dreamcast had too great a library to be considered a failure.

Finally! I lov SEGA and I am a big fan of the gaming company. My favorite consoles are all the SEGA consoles, but definatley the Dreamcast. I find myself playing it almost every day and even got rid of my PS5 to get a Lot of 110 games for off eBay. The guy and I traded and one of the gaes that caught my eye is Napple Tale: Arsia in Daydream. it's a 2.5D platformer, but goes full 3D in certain areas and around the hub world area. It's by the team who made Sonic games a 1st party game and it's awesome, but it's in Japanese so I burned a copy of the game and modded English patch and now the game is in full English.
