The chains aren’t chains they are harnesses like with horses - however the fact that fish and dolphins are pulling them is very odd.

Though it’s not apparent in the movie that I recall maybe Ariel isn’t allowed to tell Eric who she is even by writing? Or maybe she can only sign her name…

Rest In Peace Pat Carroll

She made Ursula the larger than life personality she was, and continued to voice her throughout her career. She will be missed o7

I always thought that the statue sunk into the hole and landed in ariel's secret cave and flounder didn't have to move it.

In the DVD commentary, they talk about how the statue was made to be lighter than normal, so that they could see the statue one last time before it sinks down into the ocean during the storm scene.

I didn’t notice until watching this video that Howard Ashmasn & Alan Menken interpolated “Les Poissons” in “Be Our Guest”.

If I remember correctly, the merpeople had their own written language in one of the TV episodes. So maybe for the movie it was just in “English” so we could follow along but maybe in reality she could only write in the merlanguage?

There’s a similar statue in Vancouver to the mermaid in Denmark but it’s called Girl In A Wetsuit and it’s located just off the shore of Stanley Park

I really really REALLY hope Ursula‘s backstory is explored in the live action movie 5:53 as for the flounder thing and Ariel calling him Gabby I just assumed it was a nickname

Did you know that there is a deleted scene between ariel & Ursula explaining on how she was made an outcast? She tried to kick ariel's father off the throne.

Ariel’s nudity in the film is still more modest when compared to the Andersen fairy tale in which the titular little mermaid was TOPLESS and used her *long hair to cover up her nude body when she reunited with the prince in her human form.*
