AD - PR Gifted Tickets
In this vlog I go to see Girl From The North Country at the Lowry theatre in Salford. I was lucky enough to be invited to the shows press night so our tickets & program were gifted. Girl From The North Country is a musical written & directed by Conor McPherson with the music of Bob Dylan. The show was on in the lowry's Lyric theatre and started at 7.30pm, the run time for the show was first act 63 minutes then a 20 minute interval then the second act was 64 minutes. We were sat in the Stalls Row N seats 5 & 6 and the view from these seats was excellent & there was plenty of legroom, so I would definitely sit in those seats again. I had never seen this show before and didn't know anything about it other than it featured Bob Dylan songs, so I was very excited to see the show. The show was excellent a little different to the musicals I'm used to where the songs drive the plot, with this it is the other way around. The Bob Dylan songs they chose to include in the musical fit the show so well and the way they have aranged the songs for the show is excellent and i love how they only used instruments that could be found in the 1930's which is the time the musical is set. The story centres around a guest house during the 1930's American depression. The guest house is owned by Nick & Elizabeth Lain who are struggling to keep up with their mortgage repayments. Elizabeth is suffering from dementia and so Nick is having to care for her. The pair have a son who is a drunk & wants to become a writer and a black adopted daughter who is pregnant and unmarried. The occupants of the guessed house are a bunch of lost souls who are looking to escape from their pasts.
The cast for this show is outstanding their acting and singer was just excellent. There were 4 understudies on for this performace all of which were excellent.
The show is on at the Lowry until 24th September, I will link below where you can buy tickets for these shows and if you use the Manchester Theatres discount code you can get £20 best available seats on Tuesday to Thursday performances. Use Code GFTNCMT
