I was a criminal defense attorney. It makes sense to flee the jurisdiction but it rarely happens. States won't extradict for misdemeanors, so if you have a misdemeanor charge and just move to a different state, they won't extradict. But people rarely do leave. For felonies, states will almost always extradict. If it isn't a really serious felony, you could probably hide in a foreign country, especially one without an extradiction treaty with the U.S. But people rarely do that.
I agree that Trump is a drama queen and will not run, even though logically he should. He subconsciously loves the spotlight and the drama. I could not see him quietly retiring to the Black Sea or to the beach in some corrupt dictatorship. He craves the limelight and intentionally withdrawing himself from being the focus of attention is contrary to his base instincts. He will continue to create drama and chaos for the rest of his life. He will also try to ensnarl every person and institution he can in his drama and chaos and try to bring them all down with him.

I used to say for years that the whole Trump saga would end with his fleeing to Russia, but time and again he shows that he's more interested in tearing the whole world down around him than in fleeing the scene. Even if he doesn't get to dominate the universe by running things in the wake of his disaster, it will still require people to talk about him for years and years.

But Trump did say "If you're innocent, why are you taking the fifth?". Then he proceeded to take the fifth 440 times. I believe he would flee the country, just not to Russia. Putin also being narcissistic is too much competition for Trump, maybe even have a slight edge on him.

I looked up the fuel range on Trump's Boeing 757 airplane. It can't make it in one hop to Moscow. There'd have to be a fuel stop in Alaska. Maybe his friend, Sarah Palin, would consider making some arangements..
