When you read the back of Auroras box I was like okay that's what Aurora is about but then Mulans said the same thing and I immediately facepalmed.

i feel like no one ever notices or talks about the fact cinderella is actually more of a strawberry blonde close to an auburn as opposed to a true blonde

Storytime: Once upon a time... Mommy and Daddy took Kaiden to see Beauty and the Beast LIVE on stage and the entire show Kaiden kept asking his parents "When is she gonna wear the yellow dress?!"

OG fan right here! 🥀

I think they were better in the 90's, before they created the official "Disney Princess" brand and were individual releases coinciding with their theatrical releases/re-issues. Though the biggest appeal to me with the Mattel Princess dolls is that they could wear Barbie fashions without looking weird.

Honestly, I only like the Disney Store Disney Princess dolls. Both the modern Mattel Disney Princess dolls and the Hasbro ones feel so cheap in comparison to the Disney store ones, especially in outfit quality, articulation, and face mold accuracy. I know the Disney Store ones tend to sell out faster and become more rare, but if you can get your hands on them (people who live close to a Disney Store are so lucky and have such an advantage with this), they are completely worth it and look just like the characters, whereas the Hasbro and Mattel ones feel cheap, lazy, and don't completely resemble the characters.

Nowadays, the Disney Store definitely makes the best princess dolls in my opinion. I am really not a fan of Hasbro's dolls. But gosh, the quality at the Disney Store has gone up so much. And I feel that their face molds nowadays are REALLY good

I think the pinnacle for Mattel Disney dolls was late 90s early 2000s. The playline dolls were quite nice and the collector line was beautiful 😍!

I think that Mattel's best with Disney was in fact the 90's. The collector dolls especially. Even playline dolls like the ones I had for Ariel, Esmeralda and Pocahontas were lit

The flower on Mulans dress that you thought was a chrysanthemum was probably a cherry blossom. They're relatively prominent in the Mulan animated movie

Snow White is the youngest princess at 14, and Cinderella is the oldest at ~21

When you were just talking about Aurora and Mulan and went "ship it? I don't know...", I wonder if you did that on purpose because in Once Upon a Time, those two had INSANE chemistry. 😂 That's what it reminded me of in that super brief moment lolol

Mattel princesses had better body proportions, Hasbro ones have Big heads and skinny/short bodies, they only make them a bit more proportionate in the Style series. I hope they lose the Disney princess license soon. Maybe MGA could do a better job

I worked at a Disney Store around 2012 and started noticing the doll sculpts there vs the ones by Mattel that were at a general retailer & the DS dolls were more accurate to the movie designs every time. I figured Disney didn't want other doll makers making better dolls than them. But now I think Hasbro's sculpts are about on par with those (the clothes are certainly better or equal in most cases) so yeah, while not perfect I think Hasbro's are a step up from before.

The first movie my dad saw was Snow White in 1938. He was 7. The artwork on that film is amazing. And very representative of the era. I don't know how well that translated to reissues in the 80s and 90s. But I liked the Mattel dolls better. Just for the clothing options if nothing else.

I would be interested in a family line where we see the Disney princesses as mothers though I think that would take time as only ariel has an official child. The others could be a beach line, camping line or a careers line.

The Mattel face sculpts were 1000x more true to the actual animations from the films than the hasbro 🤢
