Most people don’t need massive acceleration and in the UK there are very few public chargers that exceed 240 kW. Now this charging rate may be slow in 5 or 10 years but for now it’s fine.

People care about the lack of indicators stalks, gear selector and driver displays omitted from the Tesla M3, so that’s a potential plus for the BYD, if the MY goes the dame way.

I believe one of the reason for the somewhat poor range for the AWD version is because the front wheel motor is permanently running. Which is unnecessary waste of battery capacity.
It is also worth mention that the car has framed door windows which is significantly better than frameless windows in winter-land (where I live) and with respect to noise. I tested the car the other day, and the lack of coupé noise was impressive.
In addition, the car seat cushion length is a blessing for people over 180cm (like myself). Both seat ergonomics and noise seems to be forgotten topics among car reviewers, which is unfortunate. For the future I hope the electric viking will address these topics in a better way 🙂

Response to your comments at @04:00 The BYD does not use cobalt in its batteries, which is hugely better for the environment then than the alternative. The downside, less power density (less range). However, the BYD battery can also regularly charge from 0 to 100% - unlike other battery technologies.

Hi, I really appreciate your videos! They are always really good. Today I have to say that I think that: there are a few mistakes in the video: about the sealion7. In China it is available with two different Batterie sizes: 1) 71, 8KWh with 550 km CLTC-range and 2) 80.62KWh with 610km CLTC range. In Europe there will be a version with 91.3KWh - that will probably have a range of almost 600km of WLTP range (?)
I think that is more or less the same than the model y long range….

In my Country the BYD was start very hard. They got 3 large distributors with excellent service background, and start to build a new factory.. one already here, where they build a buses. Zeekr Xpeng, here is no any business (they are a small startups, compair to BYD), Teslla has just one small service center, You have to wait 2-3 months just a simple check... I already have a seal rwd, may I do not buy Seal Lion 07, but the starting price will 35.000 euro... what is 15% cheaper then Tesla Y rwd.. Inside a Byd compair to Tesla is a diff. universe.. IMHO. ( I'm secretly waiting for Densa z9..if it's available, I'll buy one.)

The prices for the Sealion 7 in Denmark are way cheaper than the Model Y. The top model retails at £43k for the BYD Sealion 7 and £50k for the Tesla Model Y Performance.

The list prices in China are lower than Xpeng G6 or Tesla MY, and that's before coming discounts. BYD always position their cars a bit lower than those two brands. And rightfully so, they feel a little cheaper as well. Personally I find BYD design too cluttered, but people love them over here (in China) considering how many are on the road. G6 is bizarrely not taking off in sales numbers, and I'd stay away from any Geely/Zeekr/etc. software for now.

BYD can't price the Sealion at a premium to the Telsa model Y. Needs to be $5K less than Model Y if they want to get volume

My mate is at SXSW Sydney, and there is an orange XPeng G6 on display there. He said three different panels are all different shades of orange. XPeng needs to improve the paint quality on the delivery vehicle.

I think it’ll depend on the price. Where I live. This is probably about 15-20% less than the model Y and X7. So for everyone who can charge at home, well, money is money. The cost of electricity in my city wouldn’t vary between these cars to be determining factor

But I’d like to check out the X7, Y and the Smart #5 before I take the plunge. Hopefully soon because my gas car is expensive to run and aging.

Your points are well taken but the launch price here in Hong Kong is much lower than the G6 & Model Y when comparing similar specs and config. What you pay for the 4wd version is cheaper than the 2wd version of the G6 and significantly cheaper than the LR Model Y. As for the charging speed, most people charge overnight so it is not that critical TBH.

I am now running a LR Model 3 and a SR Model Y and my next car will definitely NOT be a Tesla.

Model 3 is a budget car .. never look premium, even byd seal look better and premium to model 3. One can feel the budgetness in the car with all simplicity and material used

G6 long range vs BYD sealion 7 long range? What would you recommend? G6 is like 20k SGD cheaper based on current estimation of sealion 7 estimation of 250k.
