IT'S SO CLOSE! - Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 15 Elite vs Adidas X CrazyFast+

Crazyfast or Mercurial? That is the question a lot of people are going to be asking themselves when picking out a new pair of "speed" boots in 2023! Both offer some amazing tech, and both feel really good, but do so in very different ways. We compare the Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 15 Elite and the Adidas X CrazyFast+, and give you all the information you would need to pick the right pair for you. Definitely would want the Crazyfast over the Mercurials, i hate the sensation most Mercs give when pushing off in a lateral direction where for a brief second it feels like you sliced the sides of your foot with a knife. Plus the Crazyfast is going back to the F50s, which were incredible. The mercs only have the zoom unit, and on grass, who needs that?

Can’t really comment on the overall feel and performance of the X Crazyfast+ since I don’t have one yet. I’m kinda holding out for the standard colorways to drop. Assuming they will retail for $280 once the full line of the next gen Adidas X is released. That also means there will be a more mainstream .1 version for $250, same MSRP as the MV15 Elite. But right now we are focusing on the flagship “+” version of the silo, for me there is a lot like about it on the surface. Super thin upper, lightweight construction, snappy soleplate, traditional tongue design and a deep lacing system. I really am liking what I see. Until then I can eagerly anticipate when the new generation of X launches, which should be around July? According to some sources. Feels like Adidas wrote a love poem to the hardcore “speed” boot enthusiast, I am all for it. If really into the whole speed boots concept you almost owe it to yourself to give the Crazyfast+ a go.

I have plenty of experience in the MV15, and I know the boot like I know the back of my hand. It’s no confession that I am a huge Mercurial fan, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Vapor 15 Elite these past few months. My only criticism is minor superficial things. As far as on feet affairs go, I can’t complain. They fit me very well, by fitting me well I find them pretty comfortable as well. The upper feels premium and is very refined. It’s structured yet has a good amount of flexibility to it once it’s warmed up. Direct, quick and sharp on ball with a subtle hint of padding is how I would describe the touch. As far as I’m concerned the lockdown and responsiveness is as good as any other Vapor from the last 12 years. Maybe even better than some of the all time favorites. There is just something about how a Mercurial fits and feels, and I have always enjoyed it. There’s a confidence that it transmits when doing hard acceleration, deceleration, and sudden changes of direction. Virtually zero roll over from the upper. It keeps me coming back to the silo. As for the Air Zoom unit, I’ve seen it being a source of contention. As for me I personally like the extra bit of cushion and how it feels underfoot. I do notice its absence when I put on a Vapor 13, 14 or any other boot for that matter. Don’t get me wrong the MV 13 and 14 are still amazing “speed” boots, but the MV15 has really grown on me.

Hey Josh, since the Crazyfast is retailing $300 I think they’re closer now to the Mizuno Alpha rather than a Superfly. If we have that in mind, how the Crazyfast can compare with the Alpha? Can Adidas compete with Mizuno at that price range? Thank you!

Dear community, question about mercurials.
My size is 7 UK, problem is too much space in the toebox. Modern mercurials have a lot of space in the toebox. Back in 2016-2018 I used to buy 40.5 EUR 6.5 UK size mercurials and wear them couple of days in the house, doing the hot water trick, wearing with two pairs of socks on - that is because boot would stretch to my natural size of the feet and feel just amazing with some space.  These days size 40.5 does not seem to stretch at all, I tried with the last pre-airzoom generation (vapor 13), and they did not stretch comfortably. I have tried these vapor 15 elite in the shop with size 41, but they seemed to have a bigger space in the toebox, which is the reason why I would always go half size to stretch out. Do you think these are going to strech? Because they seem soft a bit.
For now, I went to adidas crazyfast+ which is really awesome with tight toe box, however I am still a mercurials fan (haha thanks to SR4U marketing and CR7 goals).
