In this video I set up the generator and the Bluetooth function with the Honda app. I also show you the break-in I personally am opting to do. This is just my personal choice to do and does not have to be followed but we do discover some metal shavings.

I bought one for a spare a few months back and had to break it out today so I wanted to thank you for this video.
I ran my last one hard for 6 years because I live off grid. It started acting up on me the last few days so I broke the latest model out today and wanted to make sure I'm breaking this new model in right. Thanks again.

I used cheap supertech oil non synthetic with no additives or detergents so the rings have friction to break in against the bore, when I'm done with break in il use Pennzoil ultra with really frequent oil changes. Loved your relaxed video great job there.

Coincidently I just bought the same gen, oil dipstick/fill, and cover. I put the gen owner's manual as well as the OEM dipstick and new filler in the side pocket. Also labeled the loose parts in case they get separated from the generator. What I am trying to find out is how exactly the bluetooth app communicates with the gen. Does the app need to be on and nearby to record runtime hours?

If Honda already ran and tested the unit before sale, draining the oil, and the packaging it up for sale, why would there be any need to for "break-in", and why would there be any metal shavings?

Very informative. Will you recommend for seniors. How much does it weight

Hey there. I called Honda to "see" if breaking in this generator was necessary, and the Honda technician said NO. There is nothing about this in the supplied operation manual. So now I'm a bit confused. Your thoughts?

No one in south Texas sells ethanol free gas???? Are you sure about the statement you made here?

why ethanol free? google says honda generators are designed to run on unleaded / 86 or higher with up to 10% ethanol

That's weird because I have the same custom setup and it fits the new version of the 2200i. That last kit you bought must have been for a totally different Honda generator. Probably the 1000i I bet. I bet that's what happened. They sent you the kit for the Honda 1000i.

EVEYONE MAKES THIS MISTAKE!!!!

Use the filler (or funnel) to drain the used oil, with spill control. Just wipe it out before you use it again to fill the motor.

I also recommend getting the magnetic drain bolt. They're cheap on ebay and Amazon.

Had plenty of honda motors apart…. Break in ? A joke. Un needed. We actually punish these motors at 6200 rpms racing karts with hardly any oil and they run for ever..
Fuel it. Put oil in it. Run the crap out of it. Carbs are only thing that might get dirty. That and they like a valve adjustment after 30 hours.

Not a good product anymore with the shitty carbon monoxide detector . "Basically, which you use repeatedly, is a filler word really meaning nothing. "

just fyi, also good to put some oil (5cc) on the piston head(on first start). also if it sits for a wile for a wile(1yr+). Remove spark plug and put oil in then pull cord 5-10 times without spark plug to cover head in oil)
n when first turn on the green light blinks according to the hrs on the engine
