Note that the screws on the back should be 100% tightened. Apparently there's a safety feature that stops it from charging the battery (even if the orange light is on) if a screw is loose.

I literally got the IFIXIT electronics toolkit, watched this video, and upgraded to a 1tb SSD for my ROG ALLY. Thank you so much!!!❤

Don't forget to set your correct time and date in bios if not you'll be stuck on "checking" for cloud recovery 👍🏻

Just upgraded mine with a 1TB Western Digital Black SN770M M.2 2230 SSD. Everything worked well as shown in the video. Thank you for the super easy tutorial.

Note: After disconnecting/reconnecting the battery you will have to plug it back into the charger to turn it back on. ( Even if the battery has a charge )

Also if you go to change the SSD make sure the date and time are correct in Bios.

Thank you for this good sir. I upgraded to a 2TB 2230 Sabrent Rocket Q4. It was a little rough, but I still managed. It wasn't connecting to network after the swap. It took me 3 or 4 tries. All in all, mission accomplished!

Can you do this right out of the box or do you need to download bios updates on the original drive first?

Did the Updgrade with ease. To see how the bottom is lifted was very helpful. Cloud Recovery was done with a 3rd-P-Docking with ehternet. runs fast and smooth 1st try.

This thing replaced my laptop, which replaced my desktop 😂 other than getting used to the touchscreen keyboard its a breeze. Having a your full fledged PC with you where laptops wont go is a godsend.

Followed this and set time and date in BIOS and it worked great. Some steps were a little different after upgrading possibly due to it being a year since this video was released but everything was straight forward. Now have 2TB of WD_Black storage!
