Roatan, Honduras

The Caribbean island of Roatán in Honduras has the second largest coral reef in the world and is renowned for its spectacular scuba diving opportunities. Being the largest of the Bay Islands, there has been many resorts development in recent years and it has become an increasingly more popular cruise ship destination. Roatán is a scuba diver paradise, but there are also numerous other reasons to visit the island since it offers various types of activities. This video includes a boat tour through the mangroves in Oak Ridge and visits to the Monkey & Sloth Sanctuary as well as the Iguana station. As for scuba diving, my friends and I did the shark dive and the Prince Albert wreck. My favorite dive site though was Mary's Place, also known as one of the world's top 100 dive sites. It is a fissure in the reef created by volcanic activity with steep walls full of corals and sponge-filled labyrinth at more than 100 feet deep. For people that are not certified scuba divers, note that the island also has impressive corals to snorkel around that are accessible from shore.

Filmed with a DJI Phantom 3 Standard, a GoPro Hero 4 and a Sony RX-100 III.
