Love the 35th's retro units and the challenge of using them against more advanced divs. Seems like more of a defensive unit though.

35th is not a competitive div. But it is a well designed div IMO. It has gimmicks unique to it which makes it fun to play in spite of its drawbacks.

That said, it is an air dominance div, SEAD is a must.

35th is definitely not a 1v1 deck, not for the faint of heart. 35th does have a lot of artillery and air power to help it out, and the helicopters are decent if not bad by US standards. IMO, it is a defensive deck which relies on explosive power to be annoying. Imagine that center defense except he had 155mms to back it up, and a single .50 cal. Possibly different story. The infantry are OK if all the units to buff them up are present, of course the problem is that once their leadership is gone, it's all over. It's a lot to manage.

I agree with your .50 cal statement. All these militia infantry decks should basically be played like this.

I think 35th just hasn't been figured out properly yet, people are way too quick to blame the division instead of trying different strategies with them. IMO 35th's opener should be a lot like 11th Cav's cheesy opener, lots of planes and helos, and cavalry scouts in Hueys instead of 11th's Air Cav Troopers in Blackhawks. And then while 11th Cav can follow up with Abrams spam, 35th gets reservists. 35th also differs from most US divisions in that its arty tab is even bigger than its air tab, NG units are relatively good at soaking up casualties but you need to rely on their artillery to do damage like with a lot of Pact divisions, and I don't think I saw a single artillery unit bought this game, instead there was too much reliance on 35th's relatively small air tab which mostly gets cheap obsolete units that make it suited for spamming out in an opener but not carrying the rest of the game.

I think 35th player had great opportunity to win, that force at India could have attacked a very open backside of the center. 35th seems like it can spread large forces over a wide area, so coulda forced 4th to spread too thin

the Duster is effectively a world war 2 and a half unit. Mk.1 eyeball fire control, terrible at its intended role

35th is great maybe not great but ok. You get 2 cards of m67 engineers(shock modifier) + a card of m67 police + a squad of flame inf and a ton of 50cals. Blue shoulda won in the city easy but just sent so much left and right not to use
