You forgot to mention that Betty had an interest in UFOs before the event, which is very common amongst people who 'view' them. I don't know if it's placing too many assumptions in some natural phenomena, or straight up deception, but people want to believe things that infer some truth about the universe they've already concluded. You'll also find skeptics aren't amongst the people who believed they've had some extraterrestrial encounter.

No. you can go to UNH and actually see and touch their letters and the materials. When you get the story of their life before and after, um, nope. Though well worth the trip to touch, for free, the most amazing collection of letter and drawings and gain an overall feel of why other UFO believers began to seriously distance themselves from Betty Hill.
