This song is the first part of the Latrinon Polyeleos (Psalm 134), the oldest known polyeleos. It was written in the old neumatic notation, in Romance / Byzantine psaltic manuscripts, from the XII-XIV centuries.

The Psalms, composed around 3,000 years ago by King David, hold profound spiritual power—driving away evil, reconciling people with God, and teaching the art of prayer.

In the early Christian church, hymns were sung collectively by believers, while in monasteries, the Psalms were primarily recited during the first centuries of Christianity. The ancient tradition of psaltic music, or psalmody, has been best preserved in the Christian Orthodox chant of today.

This piece represents the first part of the Latrinon Polyeleos (Psalm 134), the oldest known polyeleos. Originally written in ancient neumatic notation, it is found in Romance and Byzantine psaltic manuscripts dating from the 12th to 14th centuries.
