India has issued an advisory for its citizens in the West African nation asking them to leave the country. India's Ministry of External Affairs also asked Indians to defer non-essential travel as the situation in Niger remains volatile. There are around 250 Indians in Niger. On 26th July, members of the Presidential guard announced on national television that they had ousted President Bazoum. A few days later, General Abdoura-hamane Tchiani, who served as head of the presidential guard, took over as leader of Niger's new military junta. The West African regional bloc had given them seven days to reinstate the president or face the threat of force. But those seven days have come and gone... so what next?
