Nestlé, maker of Kit Kat, uses palm oil from companies that are trashing Indonesian rainforests, threatening the livelihoods of local people and pushing orang-utans towards extinction.

We all deserve to have a break - but having one shouldn't involve taking a bite out of Indonesia's precious rainforests. We're asking Nestlé to give rainforests and orang-utans a break and stop buying palm oil from destroyed forests.

Never have I seen an ad that has made me not want a candy bar and want eat my own thumbs at the same time.

This is a great video- the message is simple yet effective. It's shameful the lows that Nestle will sink to.

Thanks for posting this video. Its time more people knew about the destructive nature of the palm oil business.
Are Cadburys just as guilty as Nestle in this ?
Anyway its not just Nestle. So many products in our supermarket contain Palm Oil, but as its mixed with various other oils its labelled as 'vegetable oil' or whatever.

This is just yet another example that the dollar in the pocket beats anything, even the destruction of a forest or an animal species.

Ok, nestlé does not buy palm oil from Sina Mar there are at least two years, and it is actually part of the RSPO, which fight against palm oil exploitation on lands where there is any kind of forest . So unless I'm wrong, eating a Kit Kat won't hurt indonesia.

I think this ad has missed the mark. Instead of having everyone who loves KitKat on board with Greenpeace, it's actually a turn off and would likely make people not want to see Greenpeace advertisement or messaging for a very long time - ever. This ad is clearly communicating to people who probably aren't loyal consumers of KitKat - the type of people that won't make a negative financial impact to KitKat's business. Therefore, the ad has failed in it's objective.

Shouldn't the information on this one be updated? ''This morning, Nestlé finally announced a break for the orang-utan - as well as Indonesian rainforests and peatlands - by committing to stop using products that come from rainforest destruction.'' (May 17. 2010 page: www.greenpeace.org/kitkat) So this was almost 4 years a go...

I have now vowed to stop buying nestle products as well as some other companies which I am aware have some immoral practices. Hoping they will get the message and change their ways soon before the damage become irreversible.

I'm not sure if the advertisement is trying to promote the chocolate bar 'KitKat' or give awareness to what Nestle is doing All i know is that I won't be eating my kitkat bar anytime soon

Cadbury chocolates did the same with their Australian markets. Because their customers were educated about Palm Oil, after two months, and much public outcry, Palm Oil was removed after two months of incorporation. We CAN do the same with Nestle.
