Enjoyed the video Roy. It’s a pity you hadn’t continued walking for another 5 minutes the other side of the funfair, as that area is steeped in history. You would have been in Sallyport and passed the pier where Lord Nelson embarked for the Battle of Trafalgar. You would have also passed through the Round Tower, which is situated at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour and from the top, you would have been able to view the panorama of the complete harbour, ideal for your advanced cameras. The other side of the Round Tower, is Spice Island with narrow cobbled streets and buildings and pubs from Nelsons time where they used to press gang sailors as they came out from the pubs, worse for wear. Portsmouth Cathedral was just across the road. Almost in view, when you turned round to come back to the Hovercraft terminal, was the Royal Garrison Church, where King Charles the second married Catherine of Bragenza. It has no roof, as it was destroyed by an incendiary bomb during the raids on Portsmouth during World War Two. They are all free to visit. You could have even been back in time to catch the next ferry.

The wightlink car ferry dock in Fishbourne on the Island the Wighlink catamaran (foot passengers) docks at the end of Ryde pier. Then you either walk or train down to the end of the pier where the hovercraft docks. And yep where you had your Wimpy cup of tea is Clarence pier Southsea. The arcades and funfair in your video probably had there most famous moment when Mr Bean fimed there in episode "mind the baby Mr Bean"
