Hello everyone, Kandui Resort back again. We hope everyone is still safe and sound and everyone enjoyed episode 1 of "the Last Man in the Mentawai". We have some Bad News and Good News in regard to Indonesia opening up to foreign tourists and when you'll be able to visit the Mentawais. The Bad News is the government announced they are looking to keep the international border closed and not issue any visas on arrival for the remainder of 2020. The Good News is we have found a way for you to safely enter Indonesia and visit us. You will need a negative PCR Swab test and a pre-approved Visa to enter the country and Kandui Resort is happy to help process your visa. While episode 1 focused on the July run of swell we had at Kandui Left, episode 2 will focus on an April run of swell at a nearby right-hand slab. The Indonesia and Mentawai border closed in late March and shortly after, SW storms started rounding the corner of South Africa and we had a great run of swell at nearby Bank Vaults. Bank Vaults is a shifty right-hander that is super exposed to the Indian Ocean and a spot where if you play your cards correctly, it's the best barrel ratio in the Mentawais. Episode 2 was filmed over 3 sessions and Anthony Filingim really showed what is possible.
