Apparently Jormungand was supposed to be in the MCU Thor Ragnarök film as one of the beasts of Asgard, but it was cut out because the VFX artists couldn't figure out how to make a snake that big work on screen.

I was expecting the fishing story when they actually see each other for the first time cuz yeah thor wants to prove his strength against Jormungandr but I don't feel Jormungandr even knows about Thor at that point it was out yarder Loki who was magically connecting concepts to the challenges he made. He redirected blows from mjolnir and made Thor fight old age in a physical form and even challenged him to drink the ocean all the tests are impossible and I think the Norse would have seen lifting Jormungandr the same he is wrapped around the earth biting his own tail it's as if he is a rope tied around midgard it's not that he is heavy thor yields mjolnir the heaviest hammer every made and the only people known to be stronger than him are his kids magni and modi this was not a test of strength even though everyone even even Thor seems to think it is. He would have had to lift the world he was standing on or rip Jormungandr in half in order to lift that cat off the ground
