Celiac disease associations

Celiac disease/gluten-sensitive enteropathy/nontropical sprue has many disease associations. Cancers like non-Hodgkin lymphoma, adenocarcinoma of the small intestine, cancer of the esophagus and thyroid gland, and melanoma are associated with celiac sprue. Celiac disease (CD) is an immunological disease and it has many autoimmune conditions associated with it as well. Endocrine diseases like type 1 diabetes, Addison disease, and Hashimoto thyroiditis can be seen in patients with CD. CT disorders like juvenile arthritis, RA, SLE, SS, and Sjogren's syndrome may be seen in CD patients. This is the case history of a patient with celiac disease who was found to be hyperthyroid.
