I was very pleased to walk into a 'Kid's Church' room recently to see a bunch of posters the young ones had made and 'illustrated'. They were headed "Creation", "Fall", "Flood", the way to "Resurrection" and "New Creation". Rare to see such Biblical content in a 'Sunday School' setting. Indeed I was not taught this in the 1960s, so was adrift for many years.

Ken is right, not only is there no wide teaching of apologetics in the modern church, there is no wide teaching of theology. Biblical theology would be the simple start, but how many Christians can explain the Trinity, the Incarnation, the Resurrection, the implications of the Fall, etc., let alone answer the basic questions: Why do you: believe in God/attend a church/read the Bible/think Jesus is the only way; and 'what about evil and a God of love, etc. Few could give a thoughtful responsive answer to such questions.

But onto the reason for falling church gathering attendance. In the NT Christian gatherings were participative fellowships for edification foremost, with multiple people participating as they were gifted. Yet today we've turned 'church gatherings' into 'services' with one person giving a performance, even if its not the crass 'entertainment' of some gatherings. Our 'services' send the message that being a Christian is a spectator sport, not a sharing in each other's lives; a community of the redeemed, not an audience for the one-man (usually) disconnected sermon (wrongly called 'preaching'). No wonder people loose interest!

However, we still need to explicate a biblical theology of creation, IMO. The Creation description in Genesis 1-3:8 frames how reality is and established the philosophy of the Bible: concrete historical realism. It resists paganized philosophies such as Idealism, Gnosticism or the arid impersonalness of Aristotle's 'unmoved mover'.

Our creator is very much a 'moved mover'. He establishes relationship with us and grounds this in the concrete reality of the real normal days he creates within. These place the creation in history and connect we creatures to our creator by the couplings of his word, its effect and our domain to steward.

Creation in real natural days demonstrate that God is present, active and communicative in the world he has made for our fellowship with him (not his 'ownership' of us: how crass). They show the creation is the product of his love: that he created us to make real choices in operating and understanding the creation (as per Adam's naming of animals--the first act of 'science').

The creation and our relationship with our Creator is not in some other 'plane' or esoteric domain, the 'days' prohibit such mal-interpretations, but in the very life-world he has placed us in, part of what should be normal life. Moreover he has done so in terms of an intelligible rational causality that establishes the bounds of how reality works. Much more can be said, but it is Genesis 1 particularly that explains why science is possible at all, rendering puerile such comments as 'it is not a science text'.

And, that's why I'm a Biblical Creationist.

Ken Ham has a point. He should be taken seriously by Catholics, Othodox, Protestants and Evangelicals.

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. 2 Thess 2:1-4 Now brethren concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you (3) Let no one deceive you in any means; For that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition...

This is one of my favorite draws to the seventh day adventist church. The seventh day points us back to Jesus our Creator and Adventist points us forward to Jesus our Redeemer!!

If any book of the Bible is not true, then yes, that throws doubt on all of it, but note that those who throw doubt on the truth of the Bible either don't really believe it, or, they have a God that is too small and limited, or both.

Look at it this way, if you believe that God made Adam, whole, fully grown and perfect; all at once, and done: there is nothing that says that He could not have made everything in six days.

Nevertheless, Genesis is not a science textbook, yet has a lot of information in a very small narrative. It is pithy and condensed. However, there are some indications that there is more to the story than we normally realize. We often (for example) think that the whole world was the same as the garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve were placed, however, they were instructed to increase, and to have dominion over the earth, and to subdue it. But that's all we are told, thus, even though it was very good, we have no idea what the rest of the world was like right after the creation. Personally, I think it was a LOT better than what we see today, but it probably was not as nice and well ordered as the garden.🙏✝️👑✝️🙏

Edit: When it comes down to it, the main message of the Bible and the basis of FAITH, is that we should believe that what God says is true, that He always does what He says, and always keeps His Word, and the primary thing that God asks from us is that we have faith in Him, and believe Him. You can see this ALL THROUGH the Bible, from start to finish. That doesn't mean that we (being fallen and sinful beings) won't make mistakes or have doubts, but as long as we hold fast to the promises of God, AND base our actions on them, as when Abram obeyed God and offered his own son as a sacrifice, that God is FAITHFUL and worthy of our faith in HIM.

I taught science for twenty years, and I've studied the Bible for many years, and I have not yet found a real basis for conflict between science and the Bible. I've seen the "true" conclusions of science change many times over the past sixty years (It's supposed to, when new information is found), but the Word of God never changes, but I have not seen any indication that science could actually refute the Bible, and if you think it has, you really should examine the evidence very carefully, because one of the fundamental precepts of science, is that it is often wrong. That's why they have the expression: well, back to the drawing board! If you do have some doubts, check out Chuck Missler's How We Got Our Bible and Cosmic Codes. There's a lot things in the scriptures that we can't just read in the text. And also study prophecy, it's main purpose in the Bible is to authenticate the fact that it's of divine origin and comes from a source outside of time, and is the product of supreme intelligence and foreknowledge. It's definitely NOT a collection of myths and fables written by a bunch of sheepherders for entertainment while sitting around the campfire. The Bible is the TRUTH, the revealed Word of God, and you can stake your life on it with confidence.

If the book of Genesis is not true, then the veracity of the other books of the Bible is suspect.
