Don’t do this. Fill the crack with glue, clamp from the sides until the crack closes and let it dry. Remove any squeeze out and sand. This ensures the crack is removed and the wood is bonded so it won’t come back. The tip in the video just gobs it with glue and that just won’t suffice.

You're sanding across the grain (which will make it uneven) and not clamping the wood back together to seal the gap. It's not a cutting board any more.. it's a bit of wood with glue sticking out of it.

I did this. Mine was split all the way through, so i had to inject wood glue in with a little syringe and needle. I taped the sides of the crack, as directed, and also the underside of the board so the injected glue wouldn't splooge all over my counter. i injected the glue into the crevice until it stopped flowing into the crack, and settled into the taped underside.

I waited a couple of days for the glue to dry, removed the tape from the top side of the board (the side i injected the glue into), and rubbed away/sanded the excess glue and glue nubs.

After that, i turned the board to the undersurface and i removed the tape, then retaped the sides of the crack, as indicated. Most of the crack was filled all the way through and was dry to the touch, so i only had to do a few minor touch-ups on the cracks that didn't go all the way through the board, if that makes sense. I let those little repairs dry for a couple days, then sanded the glue off.

It was really easy, fixed my pastry board, and it looked beautiful once i oiled the board.

Thank you for this video!

Edit: Well, shiite. Lol. I should have read the dang comments first 😂 I feel so 🙊

Hey....i tried. I don't even have clamps, though, lol....

Better to clean the gap with a razor and then blow out with canned air. Then sanitize with lemon and salt. Dry. Then glue and clamp with pipe clamp and another straight piece of hardwood to prevent warpage. If you don't close the gap, you haven't improved the situation.

That's a crap "fix" and basically just won't work. A) PVA is water soluble B) it's a gummy/soft finish, not hard, so you'll keep getting bits of it in whatever you cut.

I haven’t worked with wood very much, but I do make wooden rings … couldn’t you mix some sawdust in with the top layer of glue to make the crack not show at all…?

Why did you only address one side of the crack? Also, I saw another video which advised to sand while the glue was still wet to get sawdust in there for a true wood filler, and I believe that's a good idea.

Which glue is good for pasting wooden grain cutting board

Actually .. the best way is to create a putty between saw dust and glue and jam THAT into it.

I recommend after the wood glue and sanding to use Howard Feed-N-Wax A combination of orange oil and natural honeybee wax! This is a wood polish and conditioner that penetrates the wood And seals any further microscopic cracks with orange oil and beeswax and that’s a natural antibacterial ! Repels water etc.

this is not a fix..it will simply fail again..if your determined to go this route you should use epoxy, not pva glue

Seems like a bad idea and a poor fix...

What a brilliant idea to use an exposed toxic substance on a food chopping board, wish I had thought of it sooner! Here's a tip for you too :- get your toothbrush squeaky clean by soaking it in petrol overnight
