An old / abandoned farm with equipment - urban exploration

This place is right near the outer edge of the Chicago suburban sprawl.

I didn't actually come here looking for farm equipment, so the equipment doesn't get as much camera time as some people might like. It was only after people started commenting that I realized there'd be interest focused on the equipment. But I haven't been able to get back there to get better shots.

Saddened me. Was a beautiful working farm at one time. You really know what to focus on. I am so interested in anything in writing and you didn't jerk the camera around. Thank you.

This place is in pretty good shape. Some of that stuff should be hauled up to North Dakota and put to work.

The plow points and discs are still shiny....someone has been using this stuff.

Always sad to see abandoned farms, it represents end of a way of life. Good video though, thanks for sharing!

At some point in time, someone had a lot of money tied up in that place and it was a really nice working farm. Probably all tied up with the money lenders now, too much red tape to unwind.

Very cool video. Check out the farm we found. Was next to an Interstate and no way to get to it except by pulling over and making our way through thorny brush. Love it though!

Nice farm place yet, well built barn and corn crib. Moldboard plows, two of them! A disk and haybine as well. Too bad it's located so close to a crappy big city. Nothing beats farm living.

Not one comment? Nice to explore these places but, sometimes not so nice to see things go to waste & wonder what happened.

wow no comments? That's an awesome find! I live in southern Oregon and sometimes stumble across cool places in the woods, but nothing like that! That is one nice farm. Even has a lightning rod. People here would die for a sweet stable like that! You know why its been abandoned? Looks like it was well maintained at some point. Kinda makes ya wonder huh?

Reminds me of our family's homestead. It just gets too expensive to run..not to mention taxes. Then city life beckons. Just waiting on the right developer. Sad.

That is a sad monument to the unsustainability of conventional farming - corporate farming with all its super-hyper-chemicals is not far behind.  As long as these systems do nothing to support, enhance, and encourage the fertility of the land, this has always - as far back as ancient Egypt and probably further - this has been and will be the result.  Too many have been sold a bill of goods and will have to face the fact that we have just about run out of wilderness to exploit after the farm has been bled dry.  Permaculture really looks like the logical solution.

That farm equipment is in storage, and not abandoned.
The person who is renting that farm owns the equipment as much of it is in good repair order.
