In an interview with FRANCE 24, US Trade Representative Katherine Tai insisted the country was not in a new Cold War with China despite lingering tensions over trade. She also stressed that the US was keen to repair ties with France and Europe after a recent Australian submarine dispute, which led to the first-ever recall of a French ambassador to the United States.

Oh god, now I seen everything. From this France is the country of Action and the US is the country of talk!

I honestly hope that the French and Americans continue to fight amongst themselves instead of committing war crimes and human rights violations around the world.

This interview is hilarious.

Without looking, you’d think the interviewer was Borat.

Vacuous non commitment rhetoric, what a useless uninformative interview.

The host is sharp and she is so wishy washy with her responses, waste of time. This is why China has no interest in speaking with you

Her grandfather is also Chinese, how ironic

There will be some atmosphere of cold war in US-China relations, but one needs not be concerned as long as a hot war does not follow.

Basically, China is achieving enough without a hot war, and the US will continue to be decent and sane enough, now manifestly for Taiwan's survival, to not start a war.

China is simply bypassing the USA.

One should not be oblivious to the merits and goodness of both countries, ideological differences notwithstanding.

Why should China open to the US, when all it wants is infiltration and regime change? Talking about trade is useless unless the US changes its attitude towards China and accept China as its equals in a much more respectful way. In a broader sense, the US must accept an international order based on the international law and the UN, not the Western centered ‘order based rules’ defined by itself and its buddies.

Maybe I'm somewhat racist, but you can see her Asianness at work, when she obviously feels a little unaccustomed to using the usual American diplomatic rhetoric... She is more of a technocrat than a politician.

Nice words! Lack of substance. What a joke! Just like the climate issue! The supposed leader emits the most carbon per capita.

It caught US by surprise that the EU and India are the happiest when US and China are having a trade war.
