Paraphalaenopsis laycockii Remounting With Good Close-up Footage

Hello and welcome to Cloudforest Vibes! Today's video was shot quite a while ago but I had to share it with you all! In this video I will be addressing my Paraphalaenopsis laycockii and getting it off it's plastic mount and onto a nice piece of cork bark. I managed to get some really good close up footage of cleaning up this orchid as well as getting it situated onto it's new mount and am hoping this video will help anyone who is trying to learn about how to mount orchids. Thank you so much as always for watching and being a part of my channel! I am still embarrassingly behind on my comments and other social media outlets but promise to get back to each and every one of you VERY soon! Please take care, stay safe and enjoy! Happy growing!

Impressive! Practically invisible. I'm a bit lazy and just use EPDM rubber bands and cut them off once the orchids attach... but definitely doesn't look very nice in the interim.

Really useful video. Thanks! I'm about to remount a Bulbophyllum cambodianum that's interwined on one of those hideous black plastic mounts, which just looks awful in my cork-backed terrarium. I decided to buy a pair of utility shears like you used, because cutting it free is a nightmare. Keep up the good work.

just a question -> in your intro at 0:15 -> is this a Tolumnia hawkensiana (or whatever the correct spelling is) I hope you are doing fine in our 'strange' time of living as there is no reply showing up to the comments of other viewers.

Zombie moss? This is the first I’ve heard of it. Is this something that can come in via a new orchid or is it a southern thing? (One thing good about Nebraska is that our winters kill some, definitely not all, invasive species.)

Based on the newspaper, this video is two months old or you keep newspaper for a long time. 🤣
"I'm running out of cork"
How is that possible? Surprised you didn't use tree fern for it.

Started off doing delicate surgery with not so delicate tools. And prime example if at first you do not succeed…try it another way. She looks great on that piece. Hopefully the roots understand the assignment 😀😂🌸

Hi Bobby!! 👋 Well I was so excited to see 4 spikes on my Bulbophyllum corolliferum, but wait... To my surprise it turned out to be Bulbophyllum Lindleyanum!!! Somebody was messing with the tags @TarzaneGroupOrchids!!! 😅 But it turned out really nice and was a hit with all who saw it!! Cute little striped flowers that need a shave!! 🤣 But still would like to get the other eventually. 😀 Stuff happens... When I need to trim on my mini's, I have several pairs of suture scissors of different styles that work great. But need to get a set like your's with the curve..many of my Aquascape friends have them in a larger size for their aquarium use on plants. It's hard for me to use fishline, so I use the elastic cording from Tarzane and Love it!! Very easy for me to work with, and it allows for plant to grow without strangulation...😏 Good video lesson on mounts Bobby, Thanks ..have a great week and look forward to seeing more blooms come your way. 👍😁

Hi Bobby! I’m crazy new to cloud forest orchids and such. I’ve been growing orchids for 20ish years, but never felt adventurous enough to try orchids I know nothing about. I’ve got 1 masdavallia, 1 dendrochillium, and 1 myoxanthus (which I’m absolutely in love with). I know they need a ton more humidity then my brassavolas and cattleyas. Can you direct me to one of your videos that can help me where to start with a vivarium?

Hello Bobby, Hey I started growing mini orchids in an aquarium thanks to you. I live in Florida and have my orchids in my garage. The garage stays pretty humid, between 75 and 85 degrees . Heat during the dry month is between 65 and 75 degrees and in the summer the garage can get up to 85- 90 degrees. I have an AC in the garage so if it get too hot I can run it. My question is other than light and air circulation do you feel I don’t need to run a heating pad. I do have a reptile humidifier . But I run it manually. Should I run the humidifier and fans on auto? So if I’m not mistaken, the fans are suppose to come on when the temperature get to high and. The humidifier is to come on when the temperature get too low? Is that the way it works? Thank you Bobby. Vic
